The ‘Coconut’ DOS virus, discovered in the late 1980s, was a relatively simple but disruptive virus that infected executable files on DOS-based systems. When executed, the Coconut virus displayed an ASCII smiley face with teeth on the infected computer’s screen, along with a message containing humorous or nonsensical text. While not causing significant damage to data, the virus disrupted normal system operations and highlighted the need for effective antivirus measures to protect against malware threats.
